Dirk Englund received his B.S. in Physics from Caltech, spent a year at TU Eindhoven as a U.S. Fulbright Fellow, and received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford in 2008. He was a postdoc at Harvard before joining Columbia as an assistant professor in 2011. He joined MIT EECS in 2013, where he is now a full professor. His group's research spans quantum computing, quantum networks, machine learning acceleration with integrated photonic circuits, and digital twin modeling of complex physical systems.
